Love coming here for their rice plates! It's perfect for weekday early dinners.
Excellent Vietnamese food, great service. Dined during lunch hour which wasn't too busy during mid week, so waits we're reasonable. Enjoyed the egg rolls, rice dish with shredded pork, beef with onion. All were delicious. Will be returning soon!
Cat fish soup too salty, ask waiter but he said nothing he can do to make it less salty, then we asked for hot water. the grill shrimp for the broken rice plate taste very chewee like plastic, rice was too dry, this dish seem like leftover from morning fresh made, and we was dinning here at the evening. Not crowdy at night, maybe should come in in the morning or noon, not recommended on the Saturday night dinner, or if you see only 3 or 4 tables serving on the dinner hours timing, consider other restaurants.
Sandwich heaven!!! They do it right. I could eat the number 4 day and night for forever. Perfect, exactly what I wanted. Atmosphere is good, service is prompt and good.
Been going here since I was in middle school with my family, always get the same item no regrets
I had Thai tea, fresh coconut (whole coconut) which is too old, the coconut meat was hard to scoop out from the shell. Ordered larger BBH and shrimp cupcake. Shrimp cake was deep fried on the outside, it tasted crispy, the shrimp was fresh but overall it is oily and overpriced with 7 tiny shrimp cake for $12, it’s an appetizer but priced like an entree. BBH was normal not flavorful, I had better elsewhere such as iPho at warm spring Fremont or Hue at San Jose
Excellent food @ Reasonable prices. Love the Thai Curry Fish and Chicken.
Delicious everytime
First time here at Vung Tau II. It’s located in a strip mall with other Asian restaurants. We ordered the sweet and sour shrimp soup, veggie pan fried noodles and the salt and pepper pork ribs. The sour soup was really good- it has the right tartness and not overwhelmingly sour. The restaurant is really casual. I’d go back and try the other dishes.
No way eat there
One of my best Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose
This spot is the one I like best. I visit plenty of restaurants but to this one I go the most. The crew is very welcoming and the cooking they cook is so flavorful. I am always happy to have a decent meal in this place. Highly recommended.
Awesome place to get Vietnamese sandwich and drink. Very nice service!
My family and I have dined @ Vung Tau since the late 1990's @ the Newark location and the Milpitas location is just as good. The food has always been consistently delicious and fresh. We tried majority of the dishes and they never disappointed us. The owner and staff are very friendly. Also, the restaurant is clean, especially the restrooms.
The food was delicious and they are very passionate about sharing their love for Vietnamese cuisine. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in Fremont!
Tasty and authentic Vietnamese food. No pho here. Prices went up quite a bit since I last came here. Service is good.
Really good place. One of the places I recommend you go if you want to try real Vietnamese food in a relatively wide offering if you are looking for something more than just Pho. The plates here range from rice plates to noodle plates and soups and other mid to higher end Vietnamese options. I am particularly fond of their Hu Tieu Seafood soups and highly recommend this as an alternative to the Pho classic. Lemongrass Chicken and BBQ Chicken over rice or rice noodles (dry) are also great to try. The atmosphere is on the higher end of Vietnamese restaurants and present more professionally than the traditional mom and pop Viet restaurants and suitable for mid to higher end guests.
Very delicious Vietnamese restaurant. Had some special dishes that you can't find at other places. Try their broken rice as well if you are a rice fan, it's another world. Also, try their prown, they use special way to cook it to be more chowy and flavorble.
One of my favorite Vietnamese places. Love the shrimp crackers. Could just eat those with soup.
I'm to visiting family and friends. we went out to dinner the bún man vịt. soup wad cloudy and not tasty at all. the Duck meat on the side with cabbage was ok and dipping sauce need to have more ginger
Definitely one of the best high-class Vietnamese restaurant in bay area! It offers hundreds of different traditional Vietnamese cuisine and have a nice and clean dining area. Highly recommend their rice noodle soup, grilled pork and grilled onion beef.
Good food good services. Not exceptional
Fast service and really good sandwiches at a very fair price.
Great food. 1st time visting
The sandwiches here are SO GOOD. My fave is the pork belly, soft, mildly spicy pork belly on crunchy, wss arm bread, with some crisp veggies. Perfect.
I am not familiar with Vietnamese food. I went with a Vietnamese person who knew how to order. I tried something different. This is the 10th or more time I've been to Vietnamese restaurant and the new food has been a very pleasant surprise.
Good food, good service, free parking, good service, good selection of Vietnamese food and other dinner dishes, not as crowded
Steak and tomato rice is the go to dish here. Not sure how they prepared it but definitely comfort food.
My friend and I visited a few weeks back. She ordered the grilled pork bowl or something with rice noodles, while I had the marinated cubed steak with tomato rice. The rice was delicious - I usually prefer noodles since rice tastes exceptionally plain to me even if mixed with other items, but the way the tomato permeated the rice was amazing. It tasted faintly of eggs, without an overpowering taste of tomato. The cubed steak went very well with the rice. It also came with a side of salad.I'm docking a point off because the fork I received had dried rice bits stuck to it. I'm a bit wary about the cleanliness. But the chopsticks I requested after looked fine.
The amount of vegetables served with their dishes was impressive and appreciated. I feel stingy for taking off one star but I would have liked a little less sugar in the meat.
Not worth the price, vietnamese food should never be that expensive.
Good place to eat Vietnamese food.
Had the broken rice xombo with shrimp and spicy chicken with green onion. Also steamed vegetables which were prepared just like I like with a little crisp still in the broccoli. My guest had the beef and green onion rolls with broken rice. All prepared nicely and fast service for a lunch time.
Came in near closing time at 8:15. Ordered sour fish soup. It tasted terrible. The broth is hot but the fish is still cold in the middle. They charge rice 1.5/person and hot tea as well. Because of the charges on rice which we didn't even eat more than 10%, I asked for Togo the rice. The lady gave a box but didn't pack it for us. We wasted money on 25% on tips. Should have left no tips. Will never come back again. Bad service plus bad food (though this could be near closing time.)
The Tieu Ca, Hu Tieu Ba Nam, and Mi Xao Thap Cam were just not good. They were so bad we didn't care that they were small portions for the prices.
The Cubed Steak, Korean BBQ Short Ribs, and Strawberry shake are top notch here.
Excellent, refreshing, and simply delicious!Clean, fast and exceptionally good service.
Restaurant is nestled in the corner L of the shopping Plaza. Decent but somewhat pricy and smaller portioned Vietnamese food. The food here differs somewhat from the pho and barbecue platters at other Vietnamese establishments.
Delicious sandwich. Good drink. Friendly staff. This place deserves a five star.
First experience here wasn't the best. The issue wasn't the food. The food is very delicious. The customer service was lacking. After giving this place a second chance everything was excellent. The food has always been excellent. This is a great option if you are looking for some good Vietnamese food. A few good options: - Bahn Khot - they are like a shrimp cupcake which comes with a sauce and the vegetables in the side. - grilled onion beef which also comes with vegetables in the side. The vegetables can sometimes be too much. If you wish to eat with them go for it. Make it a wrap and add some chili sauce. - Mi Xào Thâp Cám with either the crispy or soft egg noodles. The Hu Tieu Xào Tháp is a really great option as well. Your waiter/waitress can also guide you on some good options as well.
The place looks nice. The service is decent. Only the food is....surprisingly bad. I was expecting more, but the bun hue didn't taste right, everything else is average. I won't come back ever.
This is either my favorite or second favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the bay area (if you don't want pho). They have a pretty good variety in their menu, but I almost always get the same order which is onion beef, shrimp and shredded pork over broken rice. The onion beef is the best part. The beef is incredibly tender and has great flavor, which is only improved on by the fish sauce you can add on top or dip into. In addition they have some of the best egg rolls I've ever had. The service is so-so, but they are always quick in terms of getting you to a table and getting you your food (once they take your order).
My family comes here to eat all the time. My favorites are canh chua ca bong lau va bun mang vit
Best VN restaurant in bay area
A different Vietnamese restaurant. Very nice food!
This place never seems to be busy, even during dinner time. Food was good and came out really fast. Bahn khot (mini shrimp crepe) - highly recommend as an appetizer. The outside was fried to crispy perfection, yet the center stayed soft and moist. Bo Nuong Hanh Huong (grilled beef with onion wrapped inside) - too much undercooked onion so it was spicy and pungent. Ca Bong Lau Kho To (catfish claypot) - one of the most representative and popular Vietnamese dishes. The fish was tender with a flavorful sauce. But catfish is just too fishy for me so I'm not a fan. Ech Xao Lan (sauteed frog leg with dry curry spices) - I was expecting a curry sauce but it was just dry curry spices covering the frog legs. The frog legs were nothing special. You can order half serving of the dish to get more variety for your meal. They serve wine and beer, as well as many Vietnamese dessert (che).
Used to be one of the most popular Vietnamese restaurant. The deep fried spring roll is good, especially the crunchy and chewy skin. The tiny little coconut bowl of shrimp is very good too.
The receptionist serving on July 5th 2020 afternoon time was ridiculously rude. Being a long term loyal customer myself, I’ve never had a worse customer service experience anywhere else. I do not recommend this place if server continues to ridicule customers the way she did. Very unprofessional front desk lady!
To Mr Haru who gave me, the cashier a bad review. Please be thorough when u say a customer was ridiculed otherwise u are fake news. Because I try to be very nice to everyone. But sometimes customers are not always right. If u were refering to me and another customer then u don’t know what happened before, your only saying what u saw after n if I’m correct your the customer I tried to even save the table n carry the table outside for U. I even apologized for any inconvenience n U said it was ok. Isn’t that professional enough for U. So personally U had a good experience with me. And if U are talking about me dealing with another customer she later came n said I provided good service to them n asked me for my name. So thanks for a rotten review when I really tried to accommodate U. This the cashier lady.
